Friendster Housecleaning: You CAN choose your friends…

As I was doing some housecleaning on my computer, I noticed that there was a shitload of crap on all my online accounts that I needed to take care of.  And not only did I see it in my emails, but even here in Friendster…

I almost never reject any friend requests, but I have noticed that there is also a downside to this thing.  There are quite a bunch of people in my friends list who almost never contact me beyond their initial friend request, and what makes this worse is that most of them are the biggest spammers in the bulletin board!  I mean, what the fuck!  The bulletin board isn’t a message board, for fuck’s sake… I missed a couple of important announcements due to these overzealous "friends" who post all kinds of crap ranging from forwarded surveys to worthless ditties… and there are those who advertise something, not once, not twice, but ten fuckin’ times, all in a row!  If you want us to visit your site or profile, you only need to mention it once.  Mentioning it several times in a row to fill up my bulletin board list really pisses me off…

I have no problems with people posting things on the bulletin board as long as they do it with moderation.  But there’s a difference between people who post five things on the board in a week and those people who post five things on the board in the last fuckin’ hour!

It’s weird… last August, when I came back to Friendster, I only had 30 people in my friends list, and all of them I knew personally in real life.  After four months, the number is now at 223 people and counting.  I appreciate the fact that people want to be added to my circle of "friends", but what I don’t appreciate is using the list as a means to spam.   Granted there are many in my list who send me a message from time to time, but more than half are people I haven’t heard from again apart from their initial friend request - that is, if you don’t count their spam on the bulletin board.

So guess what folks, it’s time for some Friendster housecleaning!  That means, by New Year’s day, I’ll be looking into my bulletin board list to see the prolific spammers in my friends list and remove them from my list.  Yes, I’m gonna throw some friends out the door!  Isn’t that fun!  Wheee!  It’s like college all over again!

Ahem.

Anyway, I’m not really shooting for a full profile or multiple accounts like some "friends list whores" out there.  I’m not into that whole popularity thing - I’m too old for it, anyway.  Quality over quantity is always my sacred mantra.  So unless you are spamming some really REALLY funny shit on our bulletin board, I’m afraid I have to leave you out in the cold on Christmas day.

Don’t worry, I am sure several friends list whores won’t mind taking you in :)  Oh, and merry fuckin’ christmas!  Haha!
