Maligayang Pagbibigay-Salamat!
… or "Happy Thanksgiving" to the yankee world.
Hmmm, this’ll be the 10th Thanksgiving Day I’ll be celebrating here… and I haven’t really been to any Thanksgiving get-together yet, much less a Thanksgiving dinner (well, I "do" eat dinner on Thanksgiving Day, but not a turkey dinner, per se).
What have I always done during Thanksgiving? Well, sleep mostly. Or watch TV or DVDs. Or play games. Or clean my room. Or spend my time on the computer all day, surfing the Internet or downloading some shit… Thanksgiving really isn’t a "native" holiday to me (there’s no Thanksgiving Day in the Philippines… coz there were no Indians, I guess). In addition, most of my direct relatives are not in the United States anyway - the only ones I have here are my brothers and my parents, and they don’t really celebrate it much either.
So really… I dunno how to celebrate it. Do I have to hunt turkeys? Dress as an Indian? Or dress as a Pilgrim? Or dress like a turkey? Do I hunt down distant relatives and get some free grub? Do I have to pray on this day? What, do I really have to?!
Well, whatever. I’m sure everyone else is happy today. I’m just glad I can get extra hours of sleep, and permission to slack off for one day. Oh wait, I’ll be cleaning my room today… at least I’ll be busy, haha…
So for those of you reading this right now who are celebrating Thanksgiving with your family, relatives, friends, significant other, or just gatecrashing for some free food:
