Guess what… I won an iPod Nano…

Took them long enough, but Tim and the folks at Friendster finally announced the three winners of the Custom Profile Mod contest.  Lo and behold, my profile was second in the winner’s list.  Thanks to everyone who took the time to bookmark my profile and help me get a place in the top three!  I owe ya guys!

It’s really rare that I win something at all.  Even when I was still into daily lotto-ticket buying, the most I’d ever won on it was twenty bucks… once… and I had to give it to my mom coz I owed her for dinner…

So anyway, yay, I won a freakin’ iPod!  I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy one, but this is a great advanced christmas gift for me.  I may have to retire my mini-disc player when I do get the Nano, though.  Oh well, my old friend has served me well.  Who knows, I may yet dig him from under my old boxes years from now and show it to my grandchildren, toothlessly muttering "This was what your grampa used when he was as young as you, sonny!  He was listening to such great bands as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, insert-old-man-rambling-endlessly-here …"

To which my grandchild would probably reply, "Oh, right, whatever, sure, that’s cool grampa… my friends and I need to take a short trip to the moon, so see ya…"  I bet my grandchildren will be thinking of Led Zeppelin the same way I think of Bill Haley and the Comets… or the Beatles… or even the BeeGees…  *shudder*

I guess the thing I’m most glad about regarding this contest is that the top three people I wanted to win actually won it (and yeah, that includes me, so shut up! hehe).  If someone else who wasn’t on my list was part of the winner’s roster, it would’ve left a bad taste in my mouth…

There had been a lot of bookmark whoring in the last two weeks, and I am guessing that a couple of people were creating multiple accounts to spoof their bookmark count.  And the thing I am annoyed the most was the apparent ego-fondling that was happening in the discussion boards.  People who think they’re all that just coz they used a fuckin’ <iframe> variant… yeah right, gimme something a little more impressive, you amateur ;)  Lemme guess, you also did it in Notepad, right?  And wait, you JUST learned CSS, and you can already do this?! Wow, you’re so cool!  I wanna have your babies!

Damn posers.  Fuck em all…

Oh, I forgot to mention that I launched my Halloween layout last weekend.  It’s a bit over-the-top in some places, but it still looks too… well… too "flashy-overzealous-photoshop-kid" to me… haha, they should invent a word for that…  But hey, it’s creepy, at least.  Initially I had scary tunes on it, but when it turned out that even "I" was too scared to look at it, I changed the music to something a little more contemporary… albeit dark… to give you an idea, the first song in the list is "Heaven Beside You" by Alice in Chains…

Still have a lot of things to take care of this week.  But I’ve got 3-4 other layouts in the works…   Two of em is anime-related, one is for Christmas, and the last one is… well… not really sure what the overall theme would be, but I got a nice color scheme nailed down.

The problem with being a designer is that once you get started on designing these things, it’ll take a force of nature to make you stop…

Or maybe one month without cigarettes might do that to me sooner… damn…
